Degrees offered 100% online within the Instructional Technology program at East Carolina University include the Master of Arts in Education in Instructional Technology and recommendation for Licensure; Master of Science in Instructional Technology; and certificates in Computer-based Instruction, Distance Learning and Administration, and Special Endorsement in Computer Education. We also teach instructional technology courses to pre-service and lateral entry teacher candidates. What is Instructional Technology?
According to the Association of Educational Communications and Technology, “Instructional Technology is the theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning (Seels & Richey, 1994).” The term Instructional Technology and Educational Technology are generally considered synonymous. “Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technology processes and resources (Januszewski & Molenda, 2008).”
