The Center for STEM Education

East Carolina University hosts a Regional Science Olympiad Tournament, welcoming more than 1,100 middle and high school students from across North Carolina to showcase their STEM skills through exciting, hands-on competitions. Teams will take part in events spanning biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, earth science, and technology—working together to solve problems, design builds, and demonstrate their scientific knowledge. Top-performing teams will advance to the state-level competition.

Science Olympiad is a national nonprofit that organizes rigorous academic competitions at the regional, state, and national levels, allowing K-12 students to compete in various STEM events. Pitt County Schools will be hosting a regional Science Olympiad tournament for elementary-age students on March 7, 2026.
