Partnership Teach Elementary Education Cohort
A bachelor’s degree in elementary education prepares teachers for classrooms in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Partnership Teach students concentrate in reading which provides additional licensure to teach reading in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Partnership Teach students begin at NC community colleges and then transfer to ECU to complete the remaining coursework online. Partnership Teach usually starts part-time cohorts of elementary education majors each fall. Full-time cohorts for elementary education begin each summer. Students are placed in public school classrooms throughout the program to observe and practice teaching methods learned in the courses. A full-time internship in a public school classroom is required for all students in their senior year.
To join Partnership Teach, students must meet the requirements listed on the general description webpage as well as submit a Partnership Teach application to a Partnership Teach Coordinator and a Freshman/Transfer application to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at East Carolina University. Students must have access to the technology required as described in the Technology Requirements.

- Complete pending pre-requisite courses at the NC CC of your choice
- Establish a cumulative GPA of 2.5+ for the part-time programs of 3.0+ for full-time
- Apply to Partnership Teach (free)
- Applications typically open in October each year
- January 15 — full-time elementary deadline
- February 15 — initial application decisions for all 3 part-time programs

- After acceptance into Partnership Teach, unless you are applying during free application window (September/October)
