This organization for undergraduate and graduate students promotes the profession of science teaching at the state and national level. Throughout the organization’s meetings, students will be exposed to professional opportunities, educated on issues affecting the profession, as well as the opportunity to explore topics of interest in science education. Some examples of NSTA Student Chapter involvement are monthly meetings with guest speakers, Go-Science-Science Cafes, attendance at NCSTA, and volunteer opportunities with the Science Olympiad and Regional Science Fair.

About This Club

The East Carolina University National Science Teachers Association Student chapter (otherwise known as the Science Education club) is a student organization that is affiliated with the NSTA (National Science Teacher Association). The purpose of this organization is to promote unity and provide professional development in the area of science education for pre-service teachers of all grade levels, including Elementary, Middle, and High. This club strives to produce capable and talented science educators in order to improve the level and attention of science education within the North Carolina Education System. Monthly meetings are held each semester where members have the opportunity to hear key speakers within the Education field and receive opportunities to participate in science education programs.

How do I join the Science Education Club?

Membership into the ECU Science Education Club is easy! Simply attend one of the monthly club meetings that are advertised on the ECU Science Education Club Facebook page and around the science education class buildings. At this meeting, you will have the opportunity to sign the official club Constitution and fill out a Membership Application form. You can also find a copy of the Membership Application on the club’s Facebook page.
