Irene Howell Assistive Technology Center
The Irene Howell Assistive Technology Center (IHAT) is an assistive technology lab in the College of Education whose primary function is to teach others about accessibility and assistive technology.
Mission: To prepare educators and professionals in all fields on how to effectively engage with individuals with disabilities.
Vision: To be a Center dedicated to teaching, research, and service aligned with accessibility and assistive technologies for inclusive practices.
Our primary goal is to prepare professionals at the university level to effectively serve individuals in need of accessibility options and/or assistive technology services and devices.
We currently serve ECU students throughout and beyond the College of Education. We offer pre-service and in-service professional development modules in which students receive interactive, hands-on training on assistive technology devices and applications.
