December 2023 Commencement Announcement
The East Carolina University Fall 2023 Commencement Ceremony will be held December 15, 2023, at 10 a.m. inside Minges Coliseum. Graduates need to complete this RSVP process prior to November 26th to attend the university commencement ceremony.
In addition, ECU will host college recognition ceremonies. The college ceremonies will be held on December 15 in various locations. Guest tickets for college ceremonies will be required and are limited. Additional information about tickets is listed below.
Here are the college recognition ceremonies details. Graduates will need to know their assigned ceremony to pick up guest tickets. Please note some colleges have multiple ceremonies due to higher numbers of graduates so be sure to check out the department names associated with each ceremony.

College of Education Graduate Recognition Ceremony
The College of Education’s ceremony will be Friday, December 15th at 1 p.m. in Wright Auditorium. Guest tickets will be required and are limited. If you did not receive an email from the College of Education about tickets, please contact Dr. Dionna Manning at manningd@ecu.edu.
Any student participating in. the COE Graduate Recognition Ceremony must complete the COE graduation ticket form to confirm the number of tickets needed and the method of ticket distribution. This form must be completed by Nov. 30th.
Parking and Accommodations for the COE Graduate Recognition Ceremony:
Graduates and families may park in the ECU Parking Deck or the lots near Wright Auditorium, without a parking pass, as long as it is not a handicapped or reserved space. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time since multiple ceremonies are being hosted on campus Friday afternoon and evening.Graduates who are planning to walk and be recognized on stage are asked to arrive to the 1st floor of the Bate Building to line up no later than 12:30pm Friday 12/15 with an ECU cap and gown.
Graduation caps may be decorated for the ceremony, but all graduates are required to be in full graduation attire, including a zipped up graduation robe to enter the Auditorium.
Graduates needed accommodations for the ceremony, please note this on the ticket request so that we can plan accordingly. This is ONLY for the graduates as the building is handicap accessible and there is an elevator at the side of the Auditorium.
All students must first apply for graduation through PiratePort at least one semester prior to completing the requirements of the degree as stated by the Academic Catalog. Please visit the Office of the Registrar’s graduation web page for deadlines and instructions on applying to graduate.
Remember, there are two different ceremonies, University Commencement and the College of Education Graduate Recognition Ceremony.
