About the Educators Hall of Fame

The East Carolina University College of Education’s Advancement Council proudly announces a unique commemorative opportunity:

The Educators Hall of Fame

The Educators Hall of Fame recognizes and highlights the service of those educators to whom East Carolina alumni and friends are most grateful. This permanent recognition is displayed prominently in the Speight Building.

Acknowledge Service

Whether a professor, teacher, counselor, or school board member, the person you choose to recognize must be one whose service to the education profession had a decisive impact upon your life.

A minimum gift of $1,500 will secure a plaque inscribed with the name of the honoree. The plaque will be mounted permanently on the Educators Hall of Fame wall. Honorees who are graduates of East Carolina will be identified with the university arch logo on their plaque and any educator whose name is honored with more than one $1,500 gift will have a star placed on the plaque. This material is also available in a special Hall of Fame section on the College of Education’s website.

What Your Gift Can Do

The Educators Hall of Fame is limited to 1,000 plaques, with all gifts received going into a Hall of Fame Scholarship endowment. Annual interest from the $1 million endowment will fund merit-based scholarships for College of Education students. This prestigious merit scholarship program will help attract more of the best and brightest students to the East Carolina University College of Education.

Levels of Giving

The Educators Hall of Fame is prominently featured on the first floor of the Speight Building.

There are three gift categories:

  • An individual or individual family gift of at least $1,500 ensures a permanent place for the honoree in the Hall of Fame. In addition, this gift enrolls the donor(s) in the Chancellor’s Society.
  • An individual may also be honored by a group of people. The total amount of the group gift must be at least $1,500.
  • A gift of $26,000 or more ensures a permanent place for your honoree in the Hall of Fame and will fund an additional endowed scholarship established in the College of Education ($1,500 of this gift will go into the Hall of Fame endowment). This level of giving provides the opportunity to name the scholarship and to attend the annual scholarship awards ceremony.

Upon receiving the sponsorship gift, an announcement is sent to the honoree or the family of the honoree notifying them of this great honor. The name(s) of the sponsor(s) is also included in the announcement. A request for biographical information is forwarded to the honoree or the family of the honoree. This information is used when the College of Education recognizes our honorees at the annual Educators Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony which will take place every spring. The ceremony is followed by a reception and the opportunity for the inductees to view their plaques on the Educators Hall of Fame wall in the Speight Building.

Please join us in publicly recognizing influential educators and community advocates for education while at the same time ensuring that the College of Education can continue to offer future educators the best possible education and training.
