The Licensure Only pathway to teaching is for students who have a degree from a regionally accredited university and want to complete coursework before they obtain a teaching job. The Licensure Only plan of study consists of a two semester internship requirement. All Licensure Only Plans of Study require fieldwork prior to the internship so you must be in the state of North Carolina for this option to work for you as all of our placements occur within public schools in North Carolina.
How much time to complete?
The Licensure Only option can take 2 to 3 years depending on the pace of coursework. Typically, a candidate will have 50 to 60 hours to complete on this plan option.
ECU offers plans of study for the following licensure areas Birth through Kindergarten and Family and Consumer Sciences with both options being Distance Education friendly.
