What’s your favorite memory from your time at ECU? My favorite memory was collaborating with my peers in class and the professors through the various adult education projects and research we completed throughout the program.
What inspired you to pursue a career in education? My passion for helping others succeed, combined with my experience in EMS education, helped me see the transformative power of adult learning and educational opportunities for future growth.
Who has made the biggest impact on your journey here? Dr. Schmidt and Dr. Rhodes have influenced my educational philosophy and professional goals through their support and guidance throughout the program. My wife and family have supported me at home throughout this journey to ensure I had every opportunity to be successful.
What’s next after graduation? I plan to continue supporting my organization through EMS program coordination and moving my organization forward in a positive direction.
What advice would you give to future College of Education students? I encourage everyone to take advantage of opportunities to connect with faculty, classmates, and the ECU community. Collaborating with my classmates through various projects, discussions, and seminars during this program enriched my experience just as much as the coursework.
How has the College of Education prepared you for the classroom (or your next step)? The program has significantly strengthened my instructional skills and mindset, increased my knowledge of adult learning theory, and prepared me for future educational opportunities and personal growth.
From Dr. Steve Schmidt (professor in adult education): Jeremy is a Battalion Chief with Greenville Fire/Rescue. He has been a great student who is using what he’s learned in our program in the training of other fire and emergency service personnel with the Greenville Fire/Rescue Department.
