Crowe chosen for Linda Saltzman Memorial Intimate Partner Violence Researcher Award

East Carolina University’s Dr. Allison Crowe, associate professor of counselor education in the College of Education, was chosen as the recipient of the 2018 Linda Saltzman Memorial Intimate Partner Violence Researcher Award by the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT).
The award is a joint award given by IVAT and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and dedicated to the memory of Linda Saltzman, Ph.D., who dedicated her life to ending intimate partner violence through research. Saltzman was instrumental in promoting and initiating an intimate partner violence research program at the CDC decades ago, which opened the door for many researchers today. The award encourages continued research in the field by recognizing either new or established researchers who have made substantial contributions to the field of intimate partner violence.
A professor at ECU since 2012, Crowe was honored by the news.
“I am honored to have been chosen to receive this award,” Crowe said. “The award recognizes research in the field of violence and abuse and pays homage to one of the Center for Disease Control (CDC’s) scientists who bridged research to practice and advocacy. This is what I try and do through my own research.”
Crowe will receive the award and be recognized at the Annual International Summit on Violence, Abuse and Trauma on Sept. 8 in La Jolla, California.
