Counselor Faculty Members Honored at Annual Conference
Drs. Loni Crumb, from right, Syntia Santos Dietz, and Scott Glass were honored at the North Carolina Counseling Association’s annual conference in Durham, NC on Feb. 1.
East Carolina University College of Education’s Dr. Scott Glass received The Ella Stephens Barrett Award at the North Carolina Counseling Association’s annual conference in Durham, NC on Feb. 1. The award is the highest honor given by NCCA and recognizes excellence in professional leadership and service to the counseling profession. Glass is the Chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary Professions at ECU, past president of the NCCA, review board member of the Journal for Specialists in Group Work, ACA, NCCA, and group work division member for over two decades. His group counseling processing model, PARS, is cited in group counseling books and articles within and outside of the United States as a model for group leaders. Glass’ expertise is in adventure-based counseling and experiential group work.
Dr. Loni Crumb received the NCCA Professional Writing and Research Award for her contributions to the counseling profession through writing and research. Her article, “An Integrative Approach: Relational-Cultural Theory and Cognitive Behavior Therapy in College Counseling,” was published in the October 2017 edition of the Journal of College Counseling. Crumb’s research and writing focuses on college students, multicultural concerns, rural mental health, and diversity issues.
The North Carolina Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development received the Division Award for Most Effective Membership Drive/Recruitment. The ECU College of Education’s Dr. Syntia Santos Dietz serves in leadership in the NCAMCD.
