CRSEA is an interdisciplinary consortium of experts who recognize global implications of race and education for minoritized people. Through scholarship, CRSEA works to identify and expose racial inequity for the ultimate eradication of white supremacy. As a community, CRSEA is committed to countering and combating systemic and structural racism with scholarship and praxis, recognizing the multiple locations of oppression and the myriad manifestations and effects of their intersections, and co-constructing liberating knowledge that facilitates collective transformation for schools and communities.

Blaisdell has been involved with CRSEA since 2008. In addition to presenting at CRSEA conferences, he served as co-chair of the registration committee in 2012-2013 and as a member of both the membership and nominating committees in 2016-2017.

Dr. Blaisdell is an Assistant Professor in the ECU College of Education’s Department of Special Education, Foundations, and Research. His work focuses on using critical race theory (CRT) in a dialogical approach with teachers to understand and challenge white supremacy in public schools. He has published a book on the role of CRT in sociological research on race and articles that analyze the role of CRT in developing teachers’ racial literacy. His most recent work has focused on equity coaching and racial spatial analysis, where he argues that an understanding of the racialization of space can promote broader, school-wide racial literacy.
