Dr. Kenyann Brown Stanford Receives 2017 Glatthorn Distinguished Dissertation Award
The College of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership named Dr. Kenyann Brown Stanford as the winner of the 2017 Glatthorn Distinguished Dissertation Award for her dissertation: EVALUATING EQUITY IN STUDENT DISCIPLINE: A PROGRAM EVALUATION OF POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION AND SUPPORT IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SETTING (Under the direction of William Rouse, Jr.). Department of Educational Leadership, April 2017. Dr. Stanford is the Assistant Principal at Fuller Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh.
The award is named for Dr. Alan A. Glatthorn Professor Emeritus of East Carolina University. Dr. Glatthorn authored thirty-six professional books in the fields of school leadership, curriculum and supervision and forty textbooks in English language arts. He was generally considered one of the nation’s foremost authorities in the fields of curriculum and teacher supervision. Dr. Glatthorn was a noted international speaker and consultant whose words provided leadership as well as inspiration. He strongly believed in the transformative power of education.
Mrs. Barbara Glatthorn presented Dr. Stanford with the award and a check for $1,000 during a luncheon in her honor on September 22.
In addition to being the Glatthorn recipient, Dr. Stanford was one of three ECU graduate students selected to represent ECU at NC Graduate Education Day in Raleigh. She was selected based on the strength of her dissertation. You can read the article on about NC Graduate Education Day HERE.
