Staff Profile: Chloe Nobles

Name: Chloe Nobles
Title: James and Connie Maynard Scholars Program Coordinator
Can you share a little about your background (degrees, former job, etc.) and what brought you to ECU’s College of Education?
As a two-time alumna of ECU’s College of Education, I am passionate about supporting the development of high-achieving preservice educators through meaningful academic, leadership, and professional opportunities. I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Elementary Education from ECU in 2019 and 2021, with concentrations in History and Teacher Leadership. In addition, I hold a certificate in Teaching Children in Poverty and an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology from the University of West Georgia.
Prior to joining ECU, I taught third, fourth, and fifth grade in both North Carolina and Georgia. After returning to eastern North Carolina, I was eager to find an opportunity to support students within the College of Education. It is truly a privilege to give back to the university that played such an important role in my own educational and professional journey.
What is your role as coordinator of the Maynard Scholars Program, and what are some of the primary responsibilities of your position?
As the coordinator of the Maynard Scholars Program, I oversee program initiatives that support scholars throughout their ECU experience. My responsibilities include collaborating with faculty and campus partners, mentoring students, and creating opportunities that foster leadership, service, intellectual curiosity, and professional growth. I also work closely with prospective students, high school counselors, and school administrators to promote scholarship opportunities within the College of Education, with a particular focus on recruiting outstanding candidates for the Maynard Scholars Program.
What excited you most about joining the College of Education?
I am thrilled to be part of the incredible team in the Office of Student Support. Our staff is deeply committed to student success, and I appreciate the welcoming, student-centered environment we have created. Supporting students throughout their college journey and celebrating their achievements is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role.
What do you hope the Maynard Scholars gain from their experience in the program?
I hope our Maynard Scholars leave the program with the confidence, knowledge, and experiences needed to become exceptional educators and leaders in their communities. Through opportunities to travel, participate in professional development, attend monthly seminars, and engage in community service, scholars are able to broaden their perspectives and strengthen their skills. My goal is for them to graduate as well-rounded, highly prepared professionals who are ready to make a meaningful impact in the field of education.
What’s something fun or unique you’d like people to know about you?
When I was in first grade, my mom and I were on the cover of USA Weekend magazine!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy getting lost in a good book, traveling, especially to tropical destinations, and spending quality time with friends and family.
