Hobbies/interests: Spending time with my husband, Tanner, and our dogs, Ember and Ash, anything outdoors, and traveling!

What drew you to pursue your current degree?

I was looking for a pathway to educational leadership, and this was recommended to me by my superintendent, Dr. Melanie Shaver, and the rest is history!

What is your favorite thing about educational leadership?

My cohort (shoutout to central and north northeast!) and my leadership coach, Dr. Joe Nelson. We really talk all the time, and all support each other throughout the program!

What brought you to ECU?

The cohort and family structure really drew me to this program. It is nice to create a lifelong network of people you can have to talk to.

What has been one of your favorite moments at ECU?

On my interview panel for the program, I opened the meeting up, and my elementary school principal (Ms. Susan Peele) was on the panel, which was really a full-circle moment for both of us, as well as the fact that I was taught by my old superintendent while I was in school, Dr. Daly.

Do you have any advice for students looking to pursue a degree in education?

Absolutely go for it. It is the most rewarding job I have ever had, and the sky is the limit. Lean on the people in your cohort and always remember your “so what?” Thanks, Dr. Huck!
