What’s your favorite memory from your time at ECU?
My favorite memory from my time at ECU has been building new friendships and connecting with classmates and professors who share the same passion for helping students grow as readers and learners. Even in an online program, I felt supported and inspired by the sense of community.
What inspired you to pursue a career in education?
I have always wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of children. Seeing students gain confidence, learn new skills, and realize their potential is what continues to inspire me.
Who has made the biggest impact on your journey here?
The faculty in the College of Education have made the biggest impact on my journey. Their encouragement, support, and dedication to preparing future educators has meant a lot to me.
What’s next after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to pursue a career as a reading specialist where I can continue helping students become stronger, more confident readers.
What advice would you give to future College of Education students?
Stay organized, ask questions, and give your best effort. The program is challenging, but it is also very rewarding, and it will help you grow both personally and professionally.
How has the College of Education prepared you for the classroom (or your next step)?
The College of Education has strengthened my knowledge of literacy instruction, assessment, and evidence-based teaching practices. It has also helped me grow as an educator who is prepared to meet the needs of diverse learners.
