The ECU Center for STEM Education is committed to improving STEM access throughout the broader region. In addition to attending three conferences, hosting five professional development opportunities, and curating a unique lending library of STEM activities and resources, the STEM Center has brought science and math to students through community events and STEM nights this fall. Students have loved building with math manipulatives such as Picasso Tiles and coding and driving robots like Botley and Robox Sumo at schools in the local area. By the end of November, the STEM Center had supported eight events in four local counties, providing valuable science programming to students across a range of grade levels.

Beyond STEM nights and festivals, the STEM Center has participated in outreach with students and staff at ECU. They hosted two open houses, showcasing the many opportunities that the Center has to offer, including their free STEM Education Resource Library. This semester, Center staff members were excited to offer 24 new resources available for checkout, including Foldscopes, Makey Makeys, and Micro:bits. The Center also launched the STEM Supper Club, a professional development program that introduces teachers to a new learning technology each month.

After a busy semester, the Center for STEM Education staff look forward to continuing their programs into the new year.
