2025 Student Profile: Signe White

Name: Signe White
Hometown: Garner, NC
Signe is in the education living learning community.
High School Attended: Enloe High School
Intended Major: family and consumer science education
Reason for choosing education:
My aunt Cindy was an educator. She started with family and consumer science and then later switched to accounting. She was one of my biggest inspirations in life. She taught me how to express myself, how to put other people before myself, and how to always value my own independence. When she died, most of the people who came to her funeral were her past students. They all told me how she changed their lives. I want the honor to do that for the next generation.
Why did you choose ECU?
I have several reasons as to why I chose ECU. The worst one is that most places don’t have a FACS major, but ECU does. But the main thing that I liked about ECU was the community it has. I have the opportunity to meet so many people, and with the LLC, I have also gotten the opportunity to meet so many future educators. I really wanted to go to a big school and I feel like at ECU I am getting the full college experience that I wanted.
What is your favorite thing about ECU?
My favorite thing about ECU so far is the people. It feels like there is never a dull moment here, and I always have the chance at hanging out with someone I already knew or meeting someone new. I have grown quickly connected to a lot of the people around me, which I never expected to happen. The new friendships definitely help with my homesickness too.
