Spring 2024 Graduate Spotlight: Montgomery Fowler
Name: Dr. Montgomery Fowler
Major: Educational Leadership (EdD)
Hometown: Originally from Dunkirk, MD, currently reside in Charlotte, NC
Hobbies/interests: Cooking, Singing with community choirs, volunteering, traveling
Professor who influenced you the most: Dr. Heidi Puckett (Educational Leadership department). As my dissertation chair, Dr. Puckett provided so much leadership and guidance. She provided writing tips, career and life advice. I’m so thankful for her.
Favorite place on campus: While I haven’t spent much time on campus because I completed a distance ed program, I love the Cupola. I think that area of campus is gorgeous.
An ECU memory you would like to share: Studying abroad in Spain with some of my cohort and professors. One of the areas we traveled to, along with Madrid and Toledo, was Consuegra. While in Consuegra we had a 5-course meal inside a castle! Truly a once in a lifetime experience.
Post-graduation plans: I’m currently an Associate Director of Advising at UNC Charlotte and, with the assistance of my degree and everything I’ve learned, I hope to pursue more leadership opportunities and advanced positions within the field of advising.
