Lamb to discuss how NCSL can benefit military members
Dr. Richard Lamb was invited to take part as a presenter in a ECU-hosted site visit with the UNC System and the North Carolina Center of Optimizing Military Performance on June 14. Lamb is serving as a representative of the Neurocognition Science Laboratory (NCSL) and the College of Education on the topic of “Objective Measures of Cognitive and Psychological Health Status.”
As part of his talk he will address how the tools in the NCSL may be used to assess the cognitive, psychological, and physiological status of members of the military as they engage in high stress and high stakes training assessments such as the National Training Center or the Joint Readiness Training Center.
This is the first time that ECU’s College of Education or any college of education has been represented at this meeting. Some of the other ECU representatives are the Department of Physical Therapy, the Medical Clinical Simulations, Department of Emergency Management, and the Department of Kinesiology.
“The intent of this site visit is to raise awareness about the facilities, resources, and activities occurring at ECU,” Lamb said. “It is also intended to build a potential partnership between ECU and the visiting entities. I am excited to see the College of Education and the Department of Special Education, Foundations and Research represented in these discussions.”
