Donald receives McClammy counseling award

The counselor education program awarded the 2021-22 ECU Counselor Education McClammy Award to Nicole Donald, a graduate student pursuing a dual degree in recreational therapy administration and counselor education.

Donald is currently an intern at Salem Counseling & Consulting, where she provides clients of all ages with individual and group therapy sessions. She has seven years of expertise working with adults diagnosed with various mental illnesses and/or disorders, as well as substance use disorders. She is committed to social justice, racial trauma, and mental health. Donald is passionate about highlighting the value of mental health to others and serving as a resource for individuals who are dealing with challenges and stressors and require support.

Donald believes that it is important to engage within our communities to contribute to broader, systemic change. She is inspired to continue developing within the profession in order to educate the community, decrease stigma, and encourage positive behavioral changes in mental health care.

The ECU Counselor Education McClammy Award  honors a Counselor Education student who shows a dedication to the mission and values of the Counselor Education program through clinical practice, academic achievement, and community engagement. Your name will be highlighted on a program plaque and you will receive a travel stipend of up to $500 towards professional development activity such as attending a national, regional, or state counseling conference.
