Drs. Phyllis Broughton and Kaye Dotson were recognized with an Award of Excellence by the North Carolina Society of Historians on November 14 for their research and summary on “The Leadership Legacy of Beta Upsilon Presidents” for the preservation and perpetuation of North Carolina History. The subject of leadership was examined in the leadership legacies of past presidents of the Beta Upsilon chapter. This chapter of North Carolina Delta Kappa Gamma (NC DKG), an organization for professional educators, covers six counties in eastern North Carolina.

This book provides encouragement for future leaders in many settings. It preserves the chapter’s history and offers insight into how former Beta Upsilon presidents through the years succeeded in their leadership of the chapter to accomplish goals in the field of education.

Both Broughton and Dotson are faculty in the Department of Interdisciplinary Professions. Broughton is teaching assistant professor in adult education and Dotson is an associate professor in library science.
