ECU Graduate goes Rural

Elizabeth Japczyk Shuler, center, with Dr. Christina Tschida, left, and Dr. Kristen Cuthrell on her graduation day in December 2019.
As a newcomer to NC, Elizabeth Japczyk Shuler did not have extensive experience in rural settings until she started working as a graduate assistant in REI. Though her major was in Psychology, she gained valuable experiences working alongside Dr. Cuthrell which quickly sparked a passion within her. So, after only one semester, Elizabeth transferred to the MAED program in Adult Education with a certificate in Community College Instruction. Graduating in December 2019, Elizabeth accepted a full-time psychology instructor position at Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) and now utilizes her skills to make an impact on others. Not only is Elizabeth working in a rural setting, she and her family moved to Washington, NC and have developed a love for rural living!
