Counselor Education student wins ACA grand prize
Rebecca Smith, a first year counselor education student, was selected as the grand prize winner of the 2020 American Counseling Association’s Future School Counselors Award.
This award recognizes graduate counseling students with exceptional insight and understanding about the school counseling profession and the work of professional school counselors who interact with elementary, middle school or high school students.
As part of her grand prize, Rebecca will receive a $2,000 honorarium, complimentary ACA conference and expo registration (travel and lodging not included), recognition and presentation of the award at the conference and essay publication on CT online.
Rebecca is specializing in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. She plans to become a North Carolina school counselor as well as a licensed clinical mental health counselor. Her passion is working with children, adolescents, and families to address the numerous developmental and relational challenges that impact their overall well-being.

It was founded in 1952 and is the world’s largest association exclusively representing professional counselors in various practice settings.
