Helping Researchers Worldwide: Dr. Guili Zhang Conducted Quant/Qual Café at AEA 2019
Dr. Guili Zhang, professor and chair of the Department of Special Education, Foundations and Research in East Carolina University’s College of Education, conducted a Quant/Qual Café and helped many researchers and evaluators with research design and data analysis on site at the American Evaluation Association (AEA) annual conference held in Minneapolis on Nov. 12-16. As co-chair of AEA’s Quantitative Methods Topical Interest Group (TIG), Dr. Zhang and the other leaders organized the Quant/Qual Café two years in a row to provide highly needed research consultation service on site to nearly a hundred researcher/evaluators worldwide.

Also at the conference, Dr. Zhang carried out a half-day workshop on “Design and Conduct Sound Program Evaluations.” She also organized and conducted a TIG business meeting around the topic, “The future direction of Assessment in Higher Education.” Additionally, she held a “Meet-the-Author” event for her co-authored book (with Daniel Stufflebeam), The CIPP Evaluation Model: How to Evaluate for Improvement and Accountability, which is an authoritative book on the CIPP Model and evaluation in general.
Dr. Zhang is an active leader on the national stage in the evaluation field. Besides serving as co-chair of AEA’s Quantitative Methods TIG, she is also chair of the Assessment in Higher Education TIG. Upon invitation, this year she started to serve on the Advisory Board of the prestigious evaluation journal, American Journal of Evaluation.
