Drs. Christy Rhodes and Syntia Dietz honored by AMEXICAN
The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc. (AMEXCAN) and the Eastern North Carolina Latin American Coalition, Inc. (ENCLACO) are proud to announce that the 7thAnnual AMEXCAN Community Leadership Awards “Celebrating our Community’s Commitment and Excellence” were held on Wednesday December 5that 6:00pm at the Pitt Community College Craig F. Goess Student Center.
The annual Community Leadership Awards acknowledge and honor those who have supported AMEXCAN during the 2018 year. This event was conducted during International Volunteer Week to further honor not only our local volunteers but as a statement of solidarity and honor for volunteers across the globe. During the event AMEXCAN recognized individuals and entities who have gone the extra mile this year to serve the community. This year Dr. Christy Rhodes and Dr. Syntia Dietz were honored for their Research Partnership, Belvoir Elementary was honored for their longstanding Community Partnership, Alliance One was honored for their Business Partnership, Maritza Mata Betancourt was honored for Rising Leadership, Becky Leon was honored for being our Exemplary Student Partner, and Maria Barajas was honored for her Community Leadership. These dedicated individuals and entities gave above and beyond this year and beyond and are prime examples of leadership and community development that have and will continue to shape this community. We hope others in our community will also answer the call to volunteerism in the upcoming year, and AMEXCAN will continue to welcome and facilitate volunteerism in 2019.
