The College of Education Diversity Committee invites you to the first session of our 2017-2018 Speaker Series. In our first session through a conversational format, Dr. Mikakka Overstreet will share her work and insights on cultural diversity and equity.
There will be time for questions and discussion. This brown bag session is a chance for the college community to engage in dialogue and gain new insights on diversity topics related to schools and communities.

In fall of 2017 Dr. Overstreet joined the ECU faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Literacy Studies, English Education, and History Education. Formerly, Dr. Overstreet was the Director of the Minority Teacher Recruitment Project (MTRP) and an Instructor in the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education at the University of Louisville. In her doctoral pursuits, Dr. Overstreet engaged in research on teacher learning and change, empowering parents, and empowering teachers to value the rich funds of knowledge that their students bring to the classroom in ways that strengthen their instruction.
