Dr. Art Rouse named Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Faculty Affairs
I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Art Rouse has agreed to accept the position of Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Faculty Affairs in the College of Education.
Currently, Dr. Rouse is an associate professor and department chair in the Department of Educational Leadership (LEED) in the College. He was a public school teacher and a secondary school principal prior to joining the faculty at East Carolina University. Dr. Rouse has facilitated the effort to redesign graduate programs in the department to align with new state standards as well as served as the chair for the taskforce for the new North Carolina State Superintendent Standards. He has worked with several school district administrators to refocus their efforts on effective school leadership practices that result in a dynamic teaching and learning environment. Dr. Rouse is well published nationally, has presented his research at international and national conferences, and is the co-author of one of Corwin Press’ best-selling books “Writing the Winning Thesis or Dissertation” (2013, Corwin Press). In 2004, he co-authored the Outstanding Paper delivered at the Delta Pi Epsilon National Research Conference.
Dr. Rouse will assume this permanent role on July 1, 2017. Dr. Marjorie Ringler has agreed to accept the appointment to serve as interim department chair of LEED. Dr. Ringler is a dedicated member of the faculty and is well-prepared for the challenges of academic leadership and administration that come with the position.
