College of Education Learning Colloquium - Monday March 27

Make plans to join your COE colleagues  for our COE Learning Colloquium on Monday afternoon, March 27th, 12:30 – 2:30pm! There will be presentations on a variety of topics – most offered in repeated concurrent workshops.  The COE Learning Colloquium offers something for everyone – staff, faculty, students – please make plans to be there!

Session Abstracts

COE Leadership Fellows Presenters: Johna Faulconer and Allen Guidry Abstract: The 2016-17 COE Leadership Fellows will lead an interactive session sharing their own collaborative projects and seeking participants’ thoughts on what is necessary to start and sustain successful collaborations.

Your Teaching Resource Center at Joyner Library Presenter: Alan Bailey Abstract: Learn about the many services and resources at Joyner Library’s Teaching Resource Center – serving educators in Eastern NC with instructional materials, textbooks, multi-media, instructional kits, reference services and resources.

Internationalization Opportunities Presenters: Jami Leibowitz, Whitney Morris and Amanda Sines Abstract: Participants will learn about opportunities for incorporating international experiences into their courses, research and overall experience at ECU.  Key areas of focus will be Global Academics and Study Abroad.

Windows 10 (1st session only) Presenters: Sandy Bridgers and Trevor Dildy Abstract: Participants will receive a brief overview of some of the new features in Windows 10 followed by a question and answer session.

360 Degree Video – Making the Best Use of our Newest Video Recording Tools (2nd Session only) Presenter: Abbie Brown Abstract: Learn how to use the Ricoh Theta S. Video Camera to capture and share recordings that place the viewer in the center of the action.

The State of Clinical Practice: State and Federal Updates Presenters: Vivian Covington, Kristen Cuthrell, and Nicole Smith Abstract: New legislation at the state and federal levels has created several changes and challenges for admissions standards, clinical practice and reporting requirements for higher education.

COE Diversity Committee: Creating Equitable Classroom Spaces in the College of Education Presenters: Benjamin Blaisdell and Syntia Santos Dietz Abstract: The presenters will discuss how race, whiteness, and language affect school and college classrooms and how we can make classrooms more equitable for culturally and linguistically diverse students.
