Elementary, Middle and Secondary Education
The Department of Elementary, Middle, and Secondary Education prepares future educators to teach core academic subjects — including mathematics, science, English language arts, social studies and business education — across K–12 classrooms. The department offers teacher preparation undergraduate programs in elementary, middle grades, and secondary content areas that lead to initial North Carolina teacher licensure, as well as graduate programs across all K–12 levels that support advanced-level teacher licensure.
Join our community of learners through student chapters of state and national organizations, study abroad opportunities, research collaborations with faculty, and service to the community. Our alumni are accomplished educators and instructional leaders who are making a lasting difference in schools across North Carolina.
